A wide variety of data sources can be interconnected withFlowHeater and by making use of exchangeableadapters, there is no restriction to the data flow.
For example, the data in an Oracle database tables can be copieddirectly and without manual intervention into an MS SQL Serverdatabase. Furthermore, while the copy proceeds the data can be”heated”, i.e. converted, amended, transformed, manipulated andadditional dynamic or static data injected, as predetermined by adefinition set.
FlowHeater is an application that enables you to interconnectnumerous data sources using exchangeable functions that act asreaders from and writers to an internal format.
FlowHeater – Adapters
The Adapter concept is what makes FlowHeater such a powerful tool.Any combination of Adapters can be fitted together. Each Adapterhas a precisely defined set of features and all Adapters areoperated the same way. Whether you wish to read, write or update,the procedure is basically identical.
The standard package contains all Adapters. The Adapters availableare:
Text files:
for reading and writing text files (CSV, TXT, ASCII, FlatFile,etc). Of course differing codepages and locales are handledautomatically
MS Access:
used for importing and exporting data directly into and outof Microsoft Access MDB, MDE, ACCDB, ACCDE databases. All versionsof Access 97 thru Access 2016 are supported
MS Excel
used for the import/export of spreadsheet data directly into/out ofMicrosoft Excel (XLS, XLSX) files. The Adapter supports allversions of Excel in Office 97 thru Office 2016
MySQL
this makes it possible to import, export and update data directlyin MySQL Server databases. The Adapter supports MySQL Server 3.xand above
MS SQL Server
used to import, export and update data directly in MS SQL Serverdatabases / tables. All versions of SQL Server 7.0 thru SQL Server2014 are supported
XML files
for the native import / export of “flat” XML files. The XML Adapteris presently in the beta testing phase and will likely undergoimprovements
Oracle Databases
used for the direct import, export and update of Oracle databases.The Adapter can cope with database versions from Oracle 8 thruOracle 12c
SQLite
used for the direct import, export and update of data in SQLite3databases. The Adapter also supports the creation of a new SQLitedatabase
PostgreSQL
used for the direct import, export and update of data in PostgreSQLdatabases. The Adapter can handle PostgreSQL database serverversions 8.x and 9.x
ODBC Datenquellen
with this Adapter any desired ODBC data source can be integratedinto FlowHeater. The only prerequisite is that an ODBC driver forthe data source has been installed
OleDB Datenquellen
this permits any OleDB data source to be integrated intoFlowHeater. The only precondition is the installation of an OleDBdriver for the data source.
.NET DataTable
intended for the .NET developers among us. It effectively enablesyou to integrate your own Adapter (lite) into FlowHeater
Generating test data
used for generating test data. It enables you to create any numberof test records with any static or dynamic content desired
