Fraunhofer SCAI, developer innovative methods in ComputationalScience, announced the release of MpCCI is asoftware environment which enables the exchange of data between themodels of two or more simulation codes at runtime.
MpCCI (Mesh-based parallel Code Coupling Interface) has beendeveloped at the Fraunhofer Institute SCAI in order to provide anapplication independent interface for the coupling of differentsimulation codes.
MpCCI allows the exchange of various kinds of data between thecoupled codes; e.g. energy and momentum sources, materialproperties, mesh definitions, or global quantities.
The MpCCI interface has been accepted as a ‘de-facto’ standard forsimulation code coupling. The user can combine codes of differentdisciplines and from independent software vendors in onemulti-disciplinary analysis. The current version of MpCCI supportsAbaqus, ANSYS, ANSYS FLUENT, Flux3D, ANSYS Icepak, MSC.Marc,Permas, StarCD, and RadTherm. Adapters for further codes (e.g. 1Dpipeline code Flowmaster, other CFD and FEM codes) are underdevelopment. MpCCI offers an open API to realize adapters forin-house and research codes.
