Sleek graphical interface with many tools
The application doesn’t take long to install and it doesn’t comewith a complicated setup that you would need to complete before youcan actually use its features. It’s packed with lots of nice toolsand features, neatly arranged in an intuitive graphical interfaceand a familiar layout.
The first thing that you need to do inside the application is tocreate new work sessions. You can create new TCP/IP telnet, SSH,RS-232 connections.
Connect to a network
You will need to provide the host name and enable the feature thatallows the application to automatically reconnect to a network. Thenext step is to set a Telnet port, a terminal type and to set theauto-activity minute timer to mimic network traffic.
The steps for connecting with a modem are a bit more complicated.In Telephone Number, type the telephone number for the computer youwant to dial up. Place any necessary prefixes as if you weredialing a normal telephone, such as a 1 and the area code or a 9 ifyour telephone system requires it.
In Port, select the desired modem or specific COM port. If you arenot sure of what COM port your modem is attached to, this isdisplayed in Control.
More features and tools
You can open multiple sessions and switch between them easily byusing keyboard commands or the mouse. There’s also the option tolimit the number of sessions opened in AlphaCom at any time.
You can launch AlphaCom in the web browser and create instances.The new instance will automatically connect to the hostname andport specified. Port is optional. All in all, AlphaCom is a veryuseful application for connecting to a remote computer over anetwork using a number of methods.
