EPLAN PPE is CAE software for the planning anddesign of process automation for process-related machinery andplant. Starting with higher-level function overviews (P&IDs),plant structures, PCT loops and entering the sensors and actuatorsrequired, the automatic drafting of a variety of reports completesthe comprehensive documentation. These reports thus also supply thedata required for downstream project phases such as production,assembly, commissioning and service.
The design of the instrumentation and control technology isconnected with other engineering disciplines such as electrical andfluid power technology on the EPLAN Platform right through tocontrol cabinet design.

The tasks involved in planning process plant projects are highlyvaried and diverse, whether the generation of plant overviews; thepreliminary, main, and detail plans of individual process controlgroup and device data; the evaluating documentation; or theintegration of EPLAN Electric P8 for creating circuit diagrams.Every task has its own requirements. And that is why EPLAN PPE P8is modular.
Standardised operating methods and deepintegration
The EPLAN Platform is setting the pace in engineering: it feeds allEPLAN systems from a standardised database. In addition, theplatform provides the basic functions that you can use equally inPCT, electrical and fluid power enginee- ring or in control cabinetand switchgear engineering. Depending on the product variant, youhave a standardised graphical editor, common rights management,full viewer functions, cross-system translation functions andcentra- lised revision control.*

The EPLAN Data Portal is a global web service for high qualitydevice data. Numerous leading compo- nent manufacturers provideonline access to commercial, technical, process-oriented andcorresponding graphics data in standardised EPLAN format. Withdirect access from the EPLAN Platform, the designer can access anever-increasing pool of qualified parts data online. This largelyputs an end to the time-consuming process of producing parts datamanually, reducing configuration time at the same time asincreasing the quality of machine and plant documentation.
